1.1 What should I do if I lose my banking machine card?
Report the loss or theft of your card by calling the National Bank's Card Services Department right away at (514) 394-1427, or the TelNat call centre at 1 888 4TelNat or (514) 394-5555. Your card will be cancelled at the time of your call. To get another card, just drop by the branch you usually deal with, with proof of identification.

1.2 What should I do if I lose my MasterCard credit card?
Call the National Bank's Card Services Department right away at (514) 394-1427 for Montreal area or toll free number 1-888-4-TelNat. Your card will be deactivated at the time of your call and you will be sent a new card by mail.

1.3 What should I do if my ID, my passbook or my chequebook is lost or stolen?
It is important to notify your branch or the TelNat call centre ((514) 394-5555 or 1-888-4-TelNat) so that a message can be entered on your account about your documents being lost or stolen. That way, we will be alerted whenever there is a request for access to your file.

The National Bank applies the strictest privacy standards, as described in our Confidentiality policies section, developed with other canadian financial institutions and the Canadian Bankers Association.

6.2 What is a power of attorney, and what rights does the attorney have?
There are two types of power of attorney, general and specific. A general power of attorney gives the holder complete power to perform transactions and make changes to the banking file of the client for whom he our she has a power of attorney . In a specific power of attorney, the holder is authorized to sign and endorse cheques, notes, bills of exchange or payment orders, make deposits and withdrawals and conclude and sign agreements with respect to the foregoing. All decisions made and all documents signed by the holder in the client's name are binding on the client. A notarized power of attorney is one that has been approved by a notary, and may be either general or specific.
